This skill set addresses the skills and knowledge to work as a traffic controller This entry level traffic management training ensures persons have the required traffic control licence to control vehicle and pedestrian traffic using stop-slow bats, hand signals & approved communication devices in the resources and infrastructure industries.
Who can enrol in this qualification
All persons who wish to enter and establish themselves into the traffic control/management industry. Candidates must:
- Be at least 17 years old
- Have basic levels of language, literacy and numeracy skills
- Be physically fit enough to move light equipment and perform traffic control duties.
Suitability Requirements
A Pre-training review is conducted prior to enrolment in order to determine if the program and industry is appropriate and required language, literacy, numeracy and oral communication skills. A general state of health and fitness to select and set up traffic zones.
What do I need to enrol?
A USI*, 100points of Identification(The combination of documents presented to the accredited assessor must include your date of birth, current residential address, photograph and signature):
- Birth Certificate or Passport (70Points each)
- Current Australian driver’s or boat licence (40Points)
- Current state/territory proof of age,photocard,
Defence ID (40Points) Current Medicare card, Centrelink, Credit Cards (25Points each) A full list available on request.
What do I need to bring to training?
2 Black pens, High Vis clothing, Safety boots, the above ID.
Cost
The cost of this course is $345. The course runs from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
Refresher is last day of the 3 day training, with the cost being $225
Licensing & Regulatory Requirements
Specific licensing /regulatory requirements relating to this skillset, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory regulator.
Any organisation needs to ensure that the worker has:
a) successfully completed the training for that type of traffic control work and
b) carried out that type of traffic control work in the preceding 2 years.
Delivery, Training & Assessment
This program is conducted over 3 days of face to face training and may be facilitated at a customer’s site or one of our Training Centers -Please call to enquire. Training & Assessment is conducted by the below methods:
Traffic theory & Practical Traffic control simulation using all full scale devices and vehicles in controlled and safe environments
Assessment in all units of competency must be assessed on the job on a minimum of three separate occasions (in the context of traffic control at worksites)
Assessments will include:
- theory questions
- on the job practical application and observation
- provision of workplace samples and documentation
Completion
On successful completion participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment with the following units:
- RIIWHS205E Control traffic with a stop-slow bat
- RIIWHS302E Implement traffic management plans
